Midnight Cries

She lays sleeping or so she looks but is she really sleeping all of sudden she hears a whimper then a small cry like a baby kitten she jumps up and goes down the hall to the sounds she heard. She opens the door to the nursery she had so lovely furnished and picked out for her baby. That so special bundle that came into her arms unexpected late one night. She has never been the same since she opened her door and there you were on her doorstep. She looked into those beautiful eyes and was lost and knew then what she had to do.Because she was not giving you up to no one.She comes over to your crib and reaches down and picks you up checks your diaper knowing that your wet and hungry she grabs a diaper changes you and heads to the kitchen where she warms a fresh bottle of milk. Then proceeds back to your nursery where a big ole rocking chair sits beside the window she cuddles you close and gives you the bottle she made for you.You look up into this womans eyes wondering who is this lady that is always here for me that takes care of my every need.Who is this lady i know i will call her mommy my mommy that is who she shall be. New Year’s Reflections

Looking back on the months gone by, As a new year starts and an old one ends, We contemplate what brought us joy, And we think of our loved ones and our friends. Recalling all the happy times, Remembering how they enriched our lives, We reflect upon who really counts, As the fresh and bright new year arrives. And when I/we ponder those who do, I/we immediately think of you. Thanks for being one of the reasons I’ll/We’ll have a Happy New Year! By Joanna Fuchs Silvie

One Inch Tall

If you were only one inch tall, you’d ride a worm to school. The teardrop of a crying ant would be your swimming pool. A crumb of cake would be a feast And last you seven days at least, A flea would be a frightening beast If you were one inch tall. If you were only one inch tall, you’d walk beneath the door, And it would take about a month to get down to the store. A bit of fluff would be your bed, You’d swing upon a spider’s thread, And wear a thimble on your head If you were one inch tall. You’d surf across the kitchen sink upon a stick of gum. You couldn’t hug your mama, you’d just have to hug her thumb. You’d run from people’s feet in fright, To move a pen would take all night, (This poem took fourteen years to write– ‘Cause I’m just one inch tall). Silvie by Shel Silverstein

Thanksgiving Is a Moment to Remember

Thanksgiving is a moment to remember How little we can do to move the stars. All we are and have we must surrender, Nor is Earth less inscrutable than Mars. Knowing this, we know the need for friends Sharing both our pleasures and our pain, Giving, though it may not serve their ends, In joy the love that will our love sustain. Very much like water in a lake, In sum we serve as mirrors to the sky. No one alone can heaven’s picture take. Given friends, we know the reason why. Mommy Lorraine

Haunted House

There’s a house upon the hilltop We will not go inside For that is where the witches live, Where ghosts and goblins hide. Tonight they have their party, All the lights are burning bright, But oh we will not go inside The haunted house tonight. The demons there are whirling And the spirits swirl about. They sing their songs to Halloween. “Come join the fun,” they shout. But we do not want to go there So we run with all our might And oh we will not go inside The haunted house tonight. Cloony The Clown

I’ll tell you the story of Cloony the Clown Who worked in a circus that came through town. His shoes were too big and his hat was too small, But he just wasn’t, just wasn’t funny at all. He had a trombone to play loud silly tunes, He had a green dog and a thousand balloons. He was floppy and sloppy and skinny and tall, But he just wasn’t, just wasn’t funny at all. And every time he did a trick, Everyone felt a little sick. And every time he told a joke, Folks sighed as if their hearts were broke. And every time he lost a shoe, Everyone looked awfully blue. And every time he stood on his head, Everyone screamed, “Go back to bed!” And every time he made a leap, Everybody fell asleep. And every time he ate his tie, Everyone began to cry. And Cloony could not make any money Simply because he was not funny. One day he said, “I’ll tell this town How it feels to be an unfunny clown.” And he told them all why he looked so sad, And he told them all why he felt so bad. He told of Pain and Rain and Cold, He told of Darkness in his soul, And after he finished his tale of woe, Did everyone cry? Oh no, no, no, They laughed until they shook the trees With “Hah-Hah-Hahs” and “Hee-Hee-Hees.” They laughed with howls and yowls and shrieks, They laughed all day, they laughed all week, They laughed until they had a fit, They laughed until their jackets split. The laughter spread for miles around To every city, every town, Over mountains, ‘cross the sea, From Saint Tropez to Mun San Nee. And soon the whole world rang with laughter, Lasting till forever after, While Cloony stood in the circus tent, With his head drooped low and his shoulders bent. And he said,”THAT IS NOT WHAT I MEANT – I’M FUNNY JUST BY ACCIDENT.” And while the world laughed outside. Cloony the Clown sat down and cried. by Shel Silverstein Lorraine

Cougar

One of the mommies here got me watching this show about different sexual rarities or not as common sexual things. The last night I watched it they had cougars on. According to them a cougar is not a cougar until they turn 40 and are dating or interested in men at least 8 years younger than they are. I think it is Puma that women under 40 who date younger men are called, does that sound right? Anyhow it really doesn’t matter what the term is I suppose. I’ll admit it, I like younger men, and I like older men and men my age it doesn’t make much difference when their birth year is.   Mommy Shirley

Little Star

Little star lived in space with all the other stars and planets. Most stars were shiny and bright and made patterns in the sky, but try as she might, Little Star couldn’t shine as brightly as the other stars. One night when the other stars were dancing around the moon Little Star set off to see her friend, Twinkle. Now Twinkle was a wishing star and could make Little Stars wish come true. She wanted to be the brightest star in the universe! But Little Star couldn’t find Twinkle anywhere and she started to cry. Would she ever be as bright as the other stars ? Suddenly she heard a friendly voice calling out ,”Little Star, Little Star grab hold of my tail and I’ll take you for a ride!” It was Corky the comet. Corky had a long silvery tail and was always rushing through space. Straight away Little Star leaped onto Corky’s tail. It was time for an adventure! “Where are we going?” Little Star asked Corky. “We’re going to visit my old friend Mr. Sun, the biggest and brightest star of all.” Little Star was so excited she nearly fell off Corky’s tail. As Corky sped through space Little Star could feel the warm glow from Mr. Sun getting closer.” We’ll fly once around Mr. Sun and then it’s back home for tea” bellowed Corky. Little Star couldn’t wait. As they got nearer Corky heard Little Star shout out ,”Hello Mr. Sun.” Mr. Sun slowly turned around to see who was there. “ Well if it isn’t my old friend Corky… and who have you brought along to see me today?” he said with a warm and friendly voice. “This” said Corky, is my new friend Little Star. “ It’s a pleasure to meet you Mr. Sun “ said Little Star. “ I wish I was big and bright like you.” Mr. Sun chuckled to himself. “ It will be a long time before you’re as big as me “ he said, “But you’ll be much brighter sooner than you think “ he said, winking at Corky. Then Mr. Sun reached out his long shimmering arm and shook hands with Little Star, and as he let go a strange thing happened. Little Star felt all tingly inside, her eyes lit up and suddenly she started to glow brighter and brighter.” Looks like Mr. Sun has cheered you up a bit”, said Corky. Little Star gave Corky a big smile then turned around to wave goodbye to Mr. Sun. “ Thank you for making me bright and shiny”, shouted Little Star.” You always were”, said Mr. Sun ,”you just had to feel it inside.” Then with a whoosh from Corky’s tail they shot off through space and before Little Star knew it they were back home just in time for tea.
